Our Facility
The storage facility, located at 2258 Mountainside Drive in Burlington, Ontario offers excellent road connections to all of their service area via the QEW, 403 and 407 highways. They service their customers out of this 3500 square foot facility with product and cabinets on site. Over 800 square feet is dedicated to low temperature storage to meet all of their customer’s ice cream and frozen food needs even at the peak of the season.
Our History
In 1972 Golden Horseshoe Beverages Limited started operations In Burlington, Ontario serving customers in Southern Ontario with vending and office coffee services , as well as dairy delivery for Bordens Dairy. Partners, Ross Sanderson and Don Smith, sold off the vending business as they focused on building up the dairy and ice cream distribution component so they could provide top level service for their customers. In the early 80’s they partnered with Avondale Dairy (Beatrice Foods) to become their major distributor in the Hamilton area as well as distributing the Good Humor brand of ice cream.
In 1988 James Sanderson joined the business on a full time basis. The growth of the dairy and ice cream distribution network continued and the decision was made to divest of the office coffee enterprise. Their commitment to customer service at competitive prices was well known and in 1995 Golden Horseshoe became a major distributor for Wm. Neilson Dairy and they expanded their reach to include the Niagara Peninsula. The ice cream portion of the business also expanded with more cabinets being placed in the marketplace and a strong relationship forged with the Breyers Ice Cream Company. In 2008 the dairy routes were sold off to Neilson Dairy and the company was wound down over the next year as the initial partners retired from the business.
In 2009 Golden Horseshoe Wholesale Inc. was formed with James Sanderson as owner and president. Golden Horseshoe Wholesale operates as a regional distributor for Unilever Ice Cream (Breyers, Klondike, Ben & Jerry’s, and Popsicle Brands) as well as other ice cream and frozen food products. These brands include Kawartha Dairy, Central Smith Ice Cream, Chapmans, Gay Lea Foods, San Diego Frozen Yogurt and From Farm to Table Canada. Low temperature delivery service is provided with the well-maintained fleet of refrigerated trucks to the Regions of Halton, Hamilton – Wentworth, Niagara, and Haldimand.
